I’ve been struck by the number of Trolley Bus Museums that belong to the Association of Tourist Railroads and Railway Museums In response, I have put together a short programme that uses the Manchester gateway and includes visits to the Isle of Man, rides on the 21st century tram service in Manchester and a special visit to the National Tram Museum at Crich in Derbyshire. Tour highlights include:
- Metrolink Tram transfer into central Manchester
- An afternoon ride on a Heaton Park electric trams running on a stretch of track dating back to the early 1900s.
- A steam filled day at the East Lancs and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railways
- A side trip to Blackpool for a special day on their famous trams.
- 2 nights on the Isle of Man highlighted by:
- A steam train ride from Port Erin to Douglas
- A horse drawn ride along the Promenade
- The narrow gauge railway at Groudle Glen
- A round trip on the Snaefel Mountain Railway
- A visit to Birkenhead, Liverpool the historic home of the first street tramway in Europe.
