As many keen gardeners can’t get away in May, this 8-night visit is timed for March/April when the warming effects of the Gulf Stream creates an explosion of colour and fragrance in the far south west of England. The gardens I’ve chosen will take their breath away I’ve added a couple of nights in the picturesque cliffside village of Clovelly. Other highlights include:
• Caerhays Castle, the 2016 winner of the prestigious Historic Houses Association Garden of the Year award
• The Lost Gardens of Heligan, hailed by The Times newspaper as “the garden restoration of the century”
• Trebah, a uniquely beautiful, wooded 25-acre, sub-tropical ravine garden with a stunning coastal backdrop
• The horticultural hotspot at Glendurgan Gardens
• The dramatic global garden housed in tropical biomes at the Eden Project
• Trewithen, an historic private Estate boasting one of the loveliest gardens in England
• An optional visit to the sub-tropical gem at Tresco Abbey on the Isles of Scilly
• The magnificent vistas and abundance of exotic trees and shrubs at Trengwainton Gardens
• The myths and legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table
• Locations used in the filming of Poldark and Doc Martin
